Know the Person Behind the Code

I was born in the Basque Country (Spain) in 1985. Since my childhood I have enjoyed exploring new horizons and discovering my environment. I studied a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry (University of Basque-Country; UPV-EHU, Spain), being captivated firstly by genetics and then by neurobiology. I spend my last year of university doing an Erasmus at the University of Aberdeen (Scotland, UK). After graduating in 2008, I obtained a fellowship to perform a PhD at the Neuroscience Institute (CSIC-UHM, University Miguel-Hernandez, Spain), focusing on the ability of proteins to form higher complexes to expand their functions. As a PhD student I learnt the scientific method to address research challenges and hypothesis testing. I defended my thesis in July 2014, obtaining the maximum qualification of an outstanding “Cum Laude”.

On August 2014, I moved to the University of Bristol (Bristol, UK) to start a post-doctoral research position focusing on the ability of the cholinergic system to alter neuronal circuits and influence behaviour in a rodent model. I have applied my coding experience to set new analysis framework and automate several research procedures. I realized that my technical skills fit well into the data science industry and my scientific experience gives me the ability to frame analytical tasks differently.
